How can we find out what is the meaning of the different cause numbers?

The cause number tells us many different things.  Lets use the following cause number as a example:
48C01-0803-DF-000000 To break it down: The first two numbers are the county the cause number was filed in (48 is Madison County) The next three characters is the designation for the court.  48C01  Madison County Circuit Court  48D01  Madison County Superior Court I  48D02   Madison County Superior Court II  48D03  Madison County Superior Court III  48D04  Madison County 4D (Child Support) Court  48E01  Madison County County Court I  48E02  Madison County County Court II  48H01  Alexandria City Court  48H02  Anderson City Court  48H03  Elwood City Court  48I01  Edgewood Town Court  48I02Misdemeanor  Pendleton Town Court The next 4 numbers are the year and month the charge was filed (0803 = March 2008) The next two letters represent the type of proceeding.  There are many and this is only a small portion.  AM Misdemeanor offense   DF D Felony offense   CF Felony offense  SC Civil cause   PO Protective order
