If a person is arrested for battery class a misdemeanor and has no bond, they wait to go to court and plead not guilty, does the person get to go home or do they go back to jail until their court date?
That is a decision the presiding judge would make.  There is no standard practice.
Is there a listing somewhere that identifies each court, city, county, drug courts?
The courts are listed by their cause numbers first 5 characters:
48C01 - Circuit Court
48D01 - Superior Court I

What does operating as HTV mean?
It refers to operating a vehicle as a Habitual Traffic Violator.
Where can we put money on a card so inmates can call home?
There are no phone cards anymore.  It has to be set up as pre-paid on your phone or as a collect call.  -Jail Commander
I would like to know why there are still people listed that were released at 1300 hrs?
The Housed Inmates list is updated at around 07:45am and 11:45am daily if a person was released after this time they will not be taken off of the list until the next scheduled update.  -Webmaster
The visitation times- if it is at 1:40 what time should you be there?
You should arrive 10-15 minutes early.
Is there a mandatory 10 day hold if you are arrested for pubic intox and you are on probation? Even if you have never violated?
That answer is court specific.  As each court has their own rules regarding 10 day holds.  Without more specific information I cannot provide an answer.

What does it mean when an inmate is on the removed list that should be housed?

The date the inmate was booked into the Madison County jail is listed.  All other information can possibly be obtained by calling the Jail Division at 765-646-9285.
My father was arrested and I want to visit him how can I do this what id do I need. I am married so my last name is not the same.  What time are visitations?
You may visit any inmate during their visitation time.  You will need to have Photo ID.  Visitation times are listed on this website by looking at the Housed Inmate section or by calling the jail at 765-646-9285.
How can you unblock calls from inmates?

How can I find out a release date if there is one already.
You need to contact the jail for that information.
MY LICENSE IS SUSPENDED AND I GOT PULLED OVER AND THEY TOOK MY LICENSE SO I DONT HAVE AN ID TO VISIT SOMEONE NOW BUT IF I HAVE A BIRTH CERTIFICATE OR A PICTURE COPY OF MY ID AM I ALLOWED TO VISIT?
No a photo ID is required.  You can get a photo ID from the Bureau of Motor Vehicles.
Will someones photo be on there after they have been in there for a few days?
Not always, the photo syatem in not automated and must be manually updated.
Can an inmate use a regular calling card?
No regular calling cards are no longer accepted.

Are children allowed to visit the housed offenders? Is there any category of offender that cannot have visits from children?
Yes children are allowed to visit so long as there are no active protective orders prohibiting the contact.  Only 4 visitors are allowed during the visit. 
Where do I go for an inmates visitation? Do we see each other through glass or talk on the phone?
Visitations are contucted at scheduled times at the Detention Center (720 Central Avenue Anderson, IN).  Visitors are seperated from the inmates by a glass and metal partition and communicate via phone.
How much would it cost an inmate, all together, to mail a letter out?
Currently First Class postage is 0.42.  You can check the United Stated Postal Service website for additional postage information.
How many visitors can 1 housed inmate have during their visitation?
Inmates are allowed only 4 visitors.
If an inmates significant other is having a baby, is the inmate eligible to be released for a period of time (with security of course) to go to the hospital?
This request would be handled on an individual basis.  Please contact the Detention Center.
What does FALSE INFORMATION BM mean?

How can we find out what is the meaning of the different cause numbers?
The cause number tells us many different things.  Lets use the following cause number as a example:
48C01-0803-DF-000000 To break it down: The first two numbers are the county the cause number was filed in (48 is Madison County) The next three characters is the designation for the court.  48C01  Madison County Circuit Court  48D01  Madison County Superior Court I  48D02   Madison County Superior Court II  48D03  Madison County Superior Court III  48D04  Madison County 4D (Child Support) Court  48E01  Madison County County Court I  48E02  Madison County County Court II  48H01  Alexandria City Court  48H02  Anderson City Court  48H03  Elwood City Court  48I01  Edgewood Town Court  48I02Misdemeanor  Pendleton Town Court The next 4 numbers are the year and month the charge was filed (0803 = March 2008) The next two letters represent the type of proceeding.  There are many and this is only a small portion.  AM Misdemeanor offense   DF D Felony offense   CF Felony offense  SC Civil cause   PO Protective order
What are you allowed to send an inmate besides a letter. Example: Magazines, comic books, posters or photos,(tastefull of course), drawings, ect. What are the restrictions on any of the items you can send, for example if you could send a poster or drawing what are the size limitations.
The only items we permit to be sent into an inmate besides money orders and letters are photos.  You may mail in photo's to the inmate, the inmate is only permitted a limited number of photo's in his or her cell.    Anderson Public Library provides all library services to the inmates in the jail.  --Jail Commander 3-12-2008
Is there a way to block calls from inmates?
The person receiving the call may press *3 on the phone when the inmate calls and that will block the call.  They may also bring a copy of their phone bill and a valid ID and we can block the number from the jail.  --Jail Commander 3-12-2008
How do I send a letter to an inmate?

How do you put money in an inmates commissary account?
A money order made payable to the inmate, you can either mail it to the jail or drop it off 24 hours a day in the lobby box.  -Jail Commander
Do you show the inmates added in the last 24 hours anymore?
On 2-27-2008 the Housed Inmate Added and Removed sevtions were activated.  Look for them under the Housed Inmate on the menu bar. - Webmaster
Why are some inmates photo's not there?
There is not an automated system to tranfer the photos yet. It is a work in progress.  -Webmaster
